Why Polish vs. Acid Stain and Seal?

Concrete floors that are acid stained or dyed, but not polished, require much more maintenance an ongoing costs.

If a floor is acid stained or dyed without polishing, a sealer must be used to protect the concrete. One this sealer wears off (6 months - 1 year), it must be quickly reapplied to avoid damage to the floor or the finish.

If a sealer is not used on these unpolished floors, a rigorous floor maintenance schedule must be followed. This would include stripping and waxing the floor multiple times a year, resulting in higher ongoing labor and materials costs as well as increased down time.

On the other hand, when a floor is polished and dyed, a chemical densifier is added to the concrete to increase strength and fill any remaining pores. The is no coating or sealer used in this process, so there is nothing to reapply. This eliminates the need for any ongoing maintenance or reapplication costs. All applications should require nothing more than normal cleaning for at least 5-10 years.

So, why put up with all the aggravations and costs associated with a non-polished floor? You don't have to, demand the best ...
